RESULT: Failed – Scope and Time

OVERVIEW: The customer requested valve and bend weldments for their new builds in the US. They wanted samples of each project before they would proceed with using the company as a weld house.

ROLE: I was brought in as a consultant to assess the situation and help keep the project going on-time with the newly negotiated window allotted by the customer.

CHALLENGES: Communication between stakeholders caused the project to be delayed, with clear instructions either being ignored or coopted by political structures.

Conflict over the standard of Quality versus the need to meet the new deadline eventually ended up causing a delay in the project.

OUTCOMES: The project ended up being sanctioned by the General Manager and stayed with him until the time passed. When the samples were sent out, they did not meet the specifications of the customer and were rejected.
